Description

Lily was born in north-eastern Thailand, near the Mekong River, the only daughter of Chinese-Thais who owned a shop in their village. She was a happy child until her ‘uncle’, a friend of her parents, who used to smile at her and take her gifts, started to expect ‘payment’ when she was eleven. One day, a chance occurrence at school suggests a solution to her misery, or should she risk upsetting her parents by telling them?
