Nil Illigitimi Carborundum as the Romans never said.

We haven’t been able to get to the hospital about my back, and the village nurse won’t treat me, since we fell out several years ago. She was trying to sell my wife health insurance for the two of us for £1,000, but she could neither speak English nor get me paperwork explaining the benefits. Nil illegitimi carborundum.

Health Insurance Scams

I told her to come back when she could show me something. She never did come back and now she won’t treat me. This is Thailand, where all officials have their scams and don’t want poncey foreigners spoiling things for them with their silly questions.

So Neem has been treating me with nothing more than loving care, Aloe Vera and heavily-chlorinated tap water. This is the third or fourth day, and what hurt like Hell and looked like a small-calibre bullet hole, is on the mend, according to my wife. It is still red, but it doesn’t hurt much now.

Writers’ Fears

I know now why writers don’t like to stop writing, and why stand-up comedians like to keep busy too. It’s the fear that if you stop, you won’t be able to start again. I can feel that worry creeping into me and I published a book sixteen days ago and am forcing myself to concentrate on promo for the rest of the month. It has been a very long two weeks, with another six days to go.

Perhaps, I’ll allow myself to start thinking about the next novel in a couple of days time as a treat.

Nil Illigitimi Carborundum

Not a word from Amazon for several days now, so I reckon they’ve become fed up with my questions. When companies get that big, they lose the perspective that made them likeable in the first place. It happened to Microsoft, Google, British Gas, and now Amazon 🙂

Nil illigitimi carborundum, as they say.
